Bee Stings & Pollen AllergiesDr. Stokes Peebles, nationally known bee sting and allergy expert, discusses the medical side of beekeeping. Specifically, he will cover the body’s reaction to honey bee stings, treatment of bee stings, growing desensitized over time, differences in other insect stings, severe reactions to honey bee stings and needed medical care. Dr. Peebles will also cover the allergy prevention value of local pollen contained in honey.

History & Making of Mead” Mead is an alcoholic beverage made from honey that Man has prepared for over 4,000 years. Gene Armstrong, NABA president, will discuss the history of mead from ancient Egypt to the Vikings and on through the Middle Ages in Europe. He will then demonstrate, step-by-step, how to make mead from your honey.

“Ask an Expert Panel” A new segment this year at NABA meetings! Featuring that month’s speakers along with very experienced beekeepers from NABA, the panel will be fielding your beekeeping questions at the close of the meeting.

Questions can cover the presentation topics or beekeeping in general.
